The magic of the cup part three.

A cup match under the lights at fortress Elland Road in front of a packed house and millions more watching on TV. Fantastic! In the dim and distant past memories of AC Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona and many other iconic European nights are dredged from the memory bank evoking thoughts of how it used to be.
But for now we are a 3rd division side gorging ourselves at the top table of English football with the team and fans alike still not quite believing what's happening in this fairy tale cup run. Yes we beat the Salford Yanks in their own back yard.................the same team that destroyed Arsenal at the weekend with breath taking football...........Yes we came from behind twice away against a Spurs team that are tipped to be on the verge of gatecrashing the revered top 4 of the English game.......the script writers of Roy of the Rovers couldn't come up with anything as fanciful?
Yet at 7.45pm on Wed evening we will kick off in a 4th round replay against Spurs that we surely shouldn't have chance of winning? But as the noise inside the stadium reaches a crescendo with "Marching on Together" booming into the West Yorkshire night air have a look in the dug outs. Which manager will have that twitchy nervous look of a condemned man on trial for, well let's say tax evasion? I can assure you it won't be Lord Grayson!
So will the mighty whites continue to create headline news in the cup and overturn the aristocrats from North London? There's a just chance especially if we are still in the game after 30 minutes with the Elland Road faithful roaring the team on and the Spurs foreign legion starting to go awol...................there's just a chance. If Casper's got his inspired head on..........there's just a chance.................If Jermaine's got his scoring boots on............there's just a chance.....................and if the rest of team have got that steely self belief that served them so well at the Theatre of Shite & White Hot Lane................there's just a chance.
I suspect that we won't have our full strength team on display as Killa and Kissy could still be injured..................they wont be risked in front of the big game at Hartlepool..............and McSheffrey, Lowry and Mad Max are all not eligible to play. So it's a long shot but..............there's just a chance!
I shall be watching from the TV & Radio gantry as I do the fans summarising on Yorkshire Radio with Eddie Grey & Thom Kirwin. Just slightly worried if Becks comes up with a last minute winner I'll be the one falling from the gantry into the West Stand below!
All in all it should be another night to remember. As with the previous games against the Premiership elite I just hope that we give a good account of our selves...........anything else will be a bonus.
But what a bonus!
Guess what............ I can't wait!
MOT
In Grayson we Trust.
