Leeds v Millwall, Lies, damned lies and statistics!

There are lies, damned lies and then there are statistics someone famously once said. So with our crunch match against Bermondsey's best looming I thought I would look at some of the options as the race for automatic promotion hots up.

Our destiny is still in our hands. We have 10 games left in which I think we need to get 18 more points to get to 89 points which should take us up without the trouble of a trip to North West London in May. Out of the 10 remaining games 4 of them are against teams from the top 6 and clearly results in these will not only go a long way to defining our final position but also shape that of our lofty opponents. Up to press we have a reasonable record against the top 6 in winning 3 drawing 1 and losing two in games that yielded 10 points from 6 games. If we carry on in that vein we should get 2 wins a draw and a defeat in the 4 games left against Millwall, Swindon at home and away trips to Charlton and Norwich. That would leave us with 11 points to find out of 6 games against the likes of Southend, Yeovil, Bristol Rovers, MK Dons, Carlisle & Gillingham.

In conclusion then even our natural tendency to make things hard for ourselves shouldn't prevent us staggering over the automatic promotion line come 5pm on the 8th May....................but on the way we are just as likely to go to Norwich and thump them on their own patch and then lose at home to Southend. That's just the natural order of things at ER.

So what about tomorrows clash with our friends from Millwall. They are on the hottest of hot runs..................in their last 10 games they have notched up 25 points. If they keep that up they will end up on 90 points and pip us for the automatic spot. They have tricky away trips to Colchester and Hudderstoon and an intriguing last game of the season at home to Swindon.
Bearing that in mind I think they are the biggest threat to Leeds on the run in so a victory to either team in front of the Sky cameras tomorrow will be priceless. Leeds have shown briefly in recent matches the form that shocked Manure and Spurs and took them serenely to the top of the table before Xmas. They need to perform to that standard against the Lions and spike their impressive guns or face the prospect of seeing their automatic promotion hopes in tatters come News at Ten time. Jim Sinstadt would be unbearable...............don't do that to me Leeds!
Bring it on, C'mon Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds
Can't wait.
