Canary Pie and memories of the San Siro!

On my travels this week I was fortunate enough to be in Italy on business on the evening that a goal from "Rodders" Crouch beat the mighty Milan in the San Siro.  Inevitably that brought back memories of better times for Leeds and those goals from Dom Matteo and Lee Bowyer against the famous Italian aristocrats back in 2000.  So when the previous evening's goal was mentioned by our Italian host's the following morning I couldn't help but mention Dom's flipping great goal in the San Siro and Leeds' triumph over the Red and Black half of Milan back in 2000. On reflection it didn't exactly oil the wheels of Anglo-Italian co-operation for the rest of the visit though..............but it was a good goal!

Back in blighty and news that the Nottingham Shrubs had come unstuck at Scunny whilst Cardiff and Burnley had shared a point in midweek was just what the Leeds' promotion bandwagon needed.  With only 4 points separating Cardiff in 2nd and Leicester in 7th it couldn't be any tighter at the top as the Canaries of Norwich fly into the Theatre of Hope for the mouth watering clash with the mighty whites. Norwich are in a rich vein of form helped enormously by their knack of scoring late goals primarily led by the burly Grant Holt.  He will be another handful for a Leeds defence trying to string 3 clean sheets together for the first time this season.  Halting Holt will be the main priority but Norwich are a good side, evidenced by their league position and the fact that they have lost only one of their last ten games.  The game at Carrow Road earlier in the season finished in an honourable draw after the classic game of two halves in which Leeds let their first half superiority slip in a nervy 2nd period and ended up hanging on for dear life.  I suspect this game will be just as tight with the momentum swinging first one way then the other.

Regular readers may remember that I've successfully backed the first scorer for the last two weeks much to the financial discomfort of SkyBet.............well alright very minor discomfort...............so who's my money going to be on for this one?  Can Luciano end his mini goal drought?  Will Capt Fantastic step up to the plate as he does so often in big games?  Will the Flying Scot, Snoddy, steam in for another goal? Will Mad Max perform another contortionist trick before scoring?  Or will Grant Holt pip them all to the first goal?  Decisions, decisions? Look out for my final call on Twitter @MOTforever just before the game.

So will Delia be licking her lips after this one?  Will Stephen Fry be celebrating with a glass of Babycham in Capt Birdseye's office?  Not a chance! Leeds are on a roll and the promotion places are up for grabs for any team bold enough to grab them.  Leeds are certainly bold enough but can they close their back door securely enough? Time will tell.  What I do know is that there will be a 2.0 Leeds to win bet going on with SkyBet about 2pm.  Canary Pie for tea Delia? Bring it on?
Can't wait.
