Friday is definitely not my favourite choice of matchday but beggars can't be choosers and if Leeds United are playing at Brighton at 7.45pm on a Friday night then I'll be there. The reason for the change of date and kick off time is intriguing though? An Open day at the local University taking precedent over a Football match? Clearly Brighton is a real hotbed of football.
The match itself should be a real cracker. Firstly this will be our first visit to their splendid new stadium with all mod cons.................slightly different to the last time we played Brighton in November 2009 at the gloriously inadequate Withdean Stadium. On that day a Sussex monsoon drenched the exposed away fans strategically situated 50 yards behind the nearest goal. We were kindly given white plastic ponchos though to keep out the worst of the weather instantly turning the small band of hardy Leeds fans into a new branch of the Ku Klux Klan! A repeat of that 3.0 victory would be more than welcome tonight as Leeds attempt to add to an embryonic winning run of two leagues games at the one of the early season pace setters.
The game will bring together two ex Leeds favourites in Gus Poyet and Casper Ankergren. Poyet was seen by the majority of Leeds fans as the brains behind Leeds initial storming of League One in "that" 15 points season emphasised by the drop off in form after his departure to Spurs at the end of October 2007 leaving the poison dwarf, Mr Wise, in sole charge. His success at Brighton is based on an attractive passing style that has won him many admirers, including a number in West Yorkshire. Hopefully the shock of losing two games on the bounce after such a good start to the season will dent their confidence enough for Leeds to take advantage tonight.
Casper Ankergren is certain to get a warm reception from the Leeds travelling support. His heroics in the Play Off final against Donny and on the 3rd Jan 2009 have cemented his place in Leeds hearts for years to come. Add to that the fact that we know his dislike for crosses coming into his box and we have the start of a game plan to add a third straight defeat for the Seagulls. Leeds themselves will have to get their annihiliation at the hands of Manure out of their system if they are to notch up their first away win of their league season.
So a day off work and an overnight stay in Brighton required for this one. Danny Pugh has been drafted in from Stoke City's waste bin to strengthen our squad. Can the skills of Clayton inspire Leeds to a win? Will Becchio terrorise Casper? Can we break a habit of a lifetime and keep a clean sheet or score from a corner? Will Snoddy finally kick start his season with a scintilating display? All will be revealed tonight. Guess what? Despite the strange kick off time.........................
Can't wait!

PS Match report won't be up until Saturday tea time
This blog contains my observations and thoughts on football, life and the universe whilst following the mighty Leeds United around the highways and bi-ways of England. It is a true fans eye view of each of the matches focusing on the whole day from start to finish and the characters that we encounter along the way. I am based in a rural market town in the county of North Yorkshire and on match day I am accompanied by "The Happy Chocker" and his son "The Quiet one".
