Life's just too damn good at the moment and another big crowd at Elland Road tomorrow will hopefully see another 3 points deposited in the promotion bank.
Tranmere arrive after a summer of relative upheaval in Birkenhead that saw the departure of Ronnie Moore, didn't they only just miss out on the play offs? and a number of their more effective players from last year. John Barnes was the surprise choice to replace Ronnie Moore, who for me will be forever remembered for his fantastic individual goal for England against Brazil in Rio in 1984. Thankfully his managerial career hasn't been as stellar as his playing career after an unsuccessful stint at Celtic with Kenny Dalglish and a sojourn with the Jamaican national team. His assistant at Tranmere is that feisty scally Jason Macateer.
Ian Moore has changed his name to Ian Thomas-Moore after his close season marriage...........no need to guess who wears the trousers in that relationship then? What was he thinking? I suspect he regretted it the minute he reported back to training and faced the flak of his team mates! Another player who once graced ER with a Leeds shirt on returns tomorrow, Michael Ricketts, sorry did I say graced? I meant disgraced................I mean the words "can't hit a barn door" immediately sprung to mind when I saw he could be on Rovers bench for the game.
Leeds should start with the same team that begun on Tuesday with Parker and Naylor still likely to be in the treatment room. Bradley Johnson's excellent showing in mid week should give him confidence to start to command his midfield spot much to the frustration of Robbo. I suppose the only question is whether Kilkenny will get a start but I think sky bet would be laying 40-1 on that happening. With my super optimistic head on I can see a 4:0 win tomorrow for Leeds with the resolute and granite like defence keeping another clean sheet and Beckford improving his conversion % of shots to goals. Of course the Beckford, will he go will he stay, debate continues with a new contract on the table for him apparently. The way Larry keeps referring to his hopes of getting to the end of the transfer window without any more drama makes me nervous. We can't afford to lose him or his goals so here's praying that he's still around after the August bank holiday.
The fantastic Leeds away support was on top form at both Wycombe and Walsall and this undoubtedly gives the team a massive lift when things are getting a bit tough. The last 10 minutes at The Bescott will stay long in the memory of all who were there so I hope the team get going early tomorrow and lift the crowd from the off. If we play to our full potential for 90 minutes someone is going to get a real good hiding...............................let's hope it's the pretend scousers. We should make it 5 on the bounce for this season and a 13th straight league win at ER tomorrow.....................Can't wait!
